Enthroned King of Ur

Cosmetics and much more for you

From a young age, I had strife with oily and acne prone skin. I have tried many remedies, even going so far as to getting professional help, but unfortunately, it didn’t really help solve my problems.

The new haircut I want to be absolutely trendy and captivating in 2020! To cut or not to cut?

several scissors

I love changes. And I love new hair styles, new haircuts and looks.

2 days ago, Vogue wrote: Everyone knows the Modern year of 2020 is going on, and in the Modern year, every teenage girl and young ladies want to wear a different look before going to any special event or festival. So you should just need to wear this look of Short Hair and get a more attractive look on the next special occasion.

“The 20th Century bob hairstyle symbolizes the independent, progressive, and spirited woman. Many have turned to vintage-style bobbed hair to encourage a more daring side of their personality. Think Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. Think Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction. Think Louise Brooks in… well…all of her silent movies. Millie even felt thoroughly modern when her locks were shorn. French designer Coco Chanel has her hair bobbed in 1916. When Bernice bobbed her hair in 1920 it signified a change in her personality from mousey to sassy.

Many women have turned to the bob hairstyle looking for a dramatic change inside themselves and to abandon the past along with the hair. As is usual with the 20th Century, the movies and media play a big part in promoting and popularising the fashion of the day with many women copying the styles of their filmstar idols.

Strong female personas throughout history have been defined by their bob hairstyle. Cleopatra is often depicted wearing aspects of the bobbed style (actually, it’s a braided headpiece). Also Joan of Arc in the 15th Century. Pioneer aviator Amelia Earhart wore cropped hair. Richard the Third…well… for him, maybe not so much about the hairstyle.

We all know very well the famous short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald is published in the USA’s Saturday Evening Post magazine. The story is titled Bernice Bobs Her Hair and tells the tale of a young sweet girl who is transformed into an avenging vamp merely by getting a bob haircut.

In the 1960s the bob is about to become as radical a style shape as in the 1920s and will symbolise a further phase of female emancipation. Young women take interest in the future and distance themselves from the stuffy austere past of their parents (does this sound familiar?).

In 1963 Vidal Sassoon re-styles the bob and its attitude for the 1960s by creating the five point bob cut.

It is short, geometric, angular, unfussy. This time the bob is easier to style as the shape lies in the cut and can be styled at home.

Now we also have tame bobs: soft classic bobs that are flattering and not too severe; bobs that don’t look like bobs and back to bobbing the hair for practical reasons. And, if you are Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, the bob is the only haircut to be taken seriously in fashion circles.”

It is from an amazing article, you can read it here: https://visforvintage.net/2012/04/03/history-of-bob-hairstyle/

Mmmmm, It will sound strange, but I think about some kind of this look almost all my life. I have worn this look many times and in different variations, but very rarely was satisfied with it: too short, too long, too, too…

Last 7 years, I have worn African hair braids.

https://greencharm.life/about-me-and-my-family-a-son-a-mother-and-3-chihuahuas/

It was wonderful and inspiring! I have had red hair, white hair, orange hair, pink hair, brown hair, black hair, 4 color hair, and many other crazy colors. I took the braids off yesterday and realized that my own hair is long enough for new experiments with the cut and the color! What do you think? Of course, I want a bob haircut and light red hair! Oh, gosh! Now It’s time to choose. I have some pictures and need help: which hair cut is the most attractive???

I personally like the most the 4th one.

Magical history of Cosmetics, from the Stone Age to modern days.

While some people assume that cosmetic products are a recent invention, discoveries of the use of cosmetics go back thousands of years.

Remains of palettes estimated to be around 100.000 years old have been discovered that contain traces of mixed pigments. These were most likely used for cave art and body decoration, while the Neanderthals even used body adornment to make statements of personality.

Much later on, the ancient Egyptians used scented oils and ointments to clean and soften their skin, protect it from the sun and wind, and even to mask body odors. Heavy make-up around the eyes also became common in ancient Egypt as a beauty statement and to offer protection from evil spirits and improve eye-sight!

Discoveries show that people living in present-day Turkey used creams made of animal fat to soothe the skin as far back as 3000 BC, and the ancient Greeks applied white toxic lead to their face to obtain the pale look that was all-the-rage. The Greeks also painted their lips with a paste made of iron oxide or ochre mixed with olive oil and used kohl for eye shadow and to connect the eyebrows.

Still back in ancient times, Chinese people stained their fingernails with colors to represent a social class. Soon after, they began using rouge for lips and rice powder to make their faces white.

Also, the ancient Romans made their skin paler by using chalk powder, white lead, and a cream made of animal fat, starch, and tin oxide.

Moving into the first millennium AD, henna became popular as hair dye and painting complex designs on hands and feet around 300-400 AD in parts of North Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, and South Asia.

Even the sea-faring Vikings were at it! Both men and women used make-up, such as kohl for the eyes, while much attention was paid to the grooming of hair and beards and weekly bathing, which was unusual at the time.

In the Middle Ages, cosmetics usage spread across Europe, to the chagrin of the church. Pale skin was still deemed attractive, so lead, chalk, or flour was employed. Some people would even engage in bloodletting in the hope of lightening their skin. Lipstick and rouge were seen as reserved for women of “bad character,” such as prostitutes, and church officials were known to proclaim that cosmetics were only used by heathens and Satan worshippers!

Elizabeth I of England was famous for her red hair and pale beauty, which she obtained using white lead and vinegar. Many women made tremendous efforts to look like her, using hair dye to attain the same hair color.

Soon after, the aristocracies of England and France became obsessed with their cosmetic regime. Pale skin, rouge, and wigs were a must. The application of beauty spots became widespread, with the exact location of the spot being seen to represent a particular aspect of an individual’s personality!

The rise of an actual cosmetics industry took off at the start of the 20th century. In the very early 1900s, make-up was not yet in wide use, except for face whitening for which arsenic was often used! Pale skin was associated with wealth as rich people did not have to spend time outdoors tending to fields. The entertainment industry played a major role in making cosmetics fashionable as of around 1910, first through famous ballet and theatre stars, and later Hollywood, where icons of our industry such as Helena Rubinstein and Max Factor began their careers as make-up artists.
